About

Main Stand Musings is the highly unoriginal brainchild of Dan Haygarth.

After graduating with an English Literature and Politics degree from Newcastle University in 2018, I had moved on from my university newspaper and found myself hopelessly unemployed (shock horror). A tinpot situation called for a rushed and equally tinpot solution (hence the dreadful name).

The day that this blog was established, Everton signed Richarlison from Watford for a fee that could rise to a monumental £50 million. I felt a sudden urge to write about this and thought that there could be an audience of literal dozens that might possibly care (I never actually got round to writing this).

So here we are, with Main Stand Musings, yet another football blog.

MSM will hopefully serve a few purposes. It will allow me to continue to pretend to be a sports journalist after leaving my university newspaper, to keep chronicling the failures of Hardly Athletic FC (my truly dreadful Saturday league team) and, most importantly, vent about my beloved Everton Football Club.

Ideally, the blog will become a place where frustrated football fans of any team (apart from one in particular) can write about everything they love and hate about the beautiful game.
